What is an IFSC Code?
The Indian Financial System Code, commonly known as IFSC, is an 11-character alphanumeric code used to identify a specific bank branch participating in India's electronic payment systems. IFSC codes are commonly required for electronic fund transfers and other banking services.
An IFSC code generally consists of four letters identifying the bank, followed by a zero, and six characters identifying the particular branch. For example, in SBIN0001234, "SBIN" identifies State Bank of India while the remaining characters identify the branch.
